a) We won't write the complete screenplay - we will write 20-30 pages of it. [A complete screenplay is normally just under 120 pages long].
b) The 20-30 pages will be a skeleton structure of your story from beginning to end, in screenplay form and in separate and distinct sequences.
c) You will then need to add sequences to fill in the gaps. You may even want to modify scenes, sequences, characters and dialogue that we have created - relatively easy when you know the function of the scene or sequence. This way you can easily impose your own style.
d) Importantly, with this method you can legitimately say that the final screenplay is yours.
e) This method is in itself a form of advanced tutorial. Once you have completed this process, you will be able to repeat it again with another idea.

We know that successful screenwriters (though they often keep it a secret) often base their work on existing, successful stories [thematic, plot and structural mirroring]. Consider the similarities between Alien (1979) and The Ark in Space, between To Kill and Mockingbird, Mississippi Burning (1988) and In the Heat of the Night (1967). Between The Rebel (1961), Bridget Jones's Diary (2001), Nine to Five (1980), Working Girl (1988), Double Indemnity (1944) and The Apartment (1960). For the above, writers need especially detailed deconstructions. If you have a story that needs in-depth deconstruction, we will:

c) Deconstruct your story to isolate the core fairytale that is has evolved from. You need to reduce the story to the core fairytale - only by doing this can you understand the metaphors and build up. The core fairytale also becomes a template for other stories.
d) Isolate the genre conventions.
